Speaker Bio
Dr. Nathan Slovis is the Director of the McGee Center and a Member of the Practice. He is a native of Annapolis, Maryland. He received his Bachelor of Science from Radford University, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Purdue University, interned at Arizona Equine Center and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Slovis has published over 50 manuscripts in both national and international peer reviewed veterinary journals. He is a frequent speaker at many national and international veterinary conferences. He is the Editor of both the Atlas of Equine Endoscopy and The Atlas of Diseases/Disorders of the Foal both distributed by Elsevier. He has also authored numerous book chapters related to Equine Neonatology, Equine Neurology, Hyperbaric medicine, and infectious diseases. He implemented the current Infectious Disease and Equine Emergency Response Programs at Hagyard and holds the position of Infectious Disease Officer and Equine Emergency Response Co-Director. He is also a Certified Hyperbaric Technologist and a Member of the Veterinary Infectious Disease Society.

Dr. Karen Wolfsdorf attended veterinary school at the University of Florida and graduated in 1992. After completion of her DVM, she began an equine field service internship at North Carolina State University. In 1995, Dr. Wolfsdorf completed a residency in Theriogenology at the University of Florida and became board certified in Theriogenology. Before coming to Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, she spent time working in Australia with Dr. Pascoe at Oakey Veterinary Hospital. In 1996, Dr. Wolfsdorf joined Hagyard as an Associate and in 2002 she became one of the first two woman Members of the Practice. Dr. Wolfsdorf’s main area of interest is infertility in the mare and problems during pregnancy. She spends her time working as a field veterinarian and as a specialist at the McGee Fertility Center. She has authored many chapters on equine reproduction as well as lectured worldwide and published research regarding progesterone, retained endometrial cups and equine twin reduction with cranio-cervical dislocation. Dr. Wolfsdorf and her husband are involved as owners and breeders in the Thoroughbred industry and have two daughters who ride pony hunters.

Lynne has been an equine veterinary technician for over 33 years in a clinical setting with a focus on Neonatal Intensive Care. She is currently the Technician Coordinator in the Medicine Department as well as the Hyperbaric safety director. She is a charter member of the AAEVT , lives in Georgetown, KY with her husband Mark, and has 3 children, Teal, Natalie and Zachary and was the 2017 AAEVT Member of the Year.

Dr. Shaba graduated from The Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 2015. Following graduation, he completed a one-year field care internship at Hagyard, then traveled to the southern hemisphere to work the breeding season in Matamata, New Zealand, and finally returned to Hagyard Equine as a field care associate. Dr. Shaba enjoys all aspects of equine primary care but has a special interest in reproduction, ophthalmology, and lower airway disease. In his free time, he enjoys running and long walks with his dog, Charlie.
