Dr. Peters is a leading authority on locomotor pathology, diagnosis, treatment, and managing sport horse health for optimum performance. He is a multi-discipline licensed Federation Equestrian Internationale (FEI) Veterinary Delegate and is FEI certified in dressage, eventing, jumping, driving, vaulting, and reining. He has held roles as Director of the Clinical Equine Sports Medicine Program and associate professor of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Director of the Sport Horse Division at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, and developing Pioneer Equine in Oakdale, CA. Dr. Peters enjoys assisting clients manage their sport horse programs, and he actively competes in hunter/jumper shows, fox hunts regularly and partakes in fly fishing when time is available.

Dr. Macpherson is a clinician scientist who has dedicated her professional career to combining both veterinary medicine and research. She received her DVM degree in 1990 from Michigan State University. She completed a residency and Master’s degree in Equine Theriogenology at Texas A&M University and became a Diplomate in the American College of Theriogenologists in 1994. After her residency, Dr. Macpherson practiced at the University of Pennsylvania and central Kentucky. Dr. Macpherson is presently a Professor in the section of Reproduction at the University of Florida. She is interested in all aspects of equine reproduction, but has a special interest in problems affecting late pregnancy in the mare, most notably placentitis. Dr. Macpherson is also passionate about organized veterinary medicine and has served as President of the American College of Theriogenologists (2005), President of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (2018) and is currently serving as Alternate Delegate in the American Veterinary Medical Association on behalf of the AAEP.

Dr. Nikki Scherrer, currently serves as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Dr. Scherrer received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and graduated summa cum laude at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. She attended Purdue University, in West Lafayette, Indiana, where she earned a doctorate degree from the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation she started an internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital and following this she started a second rotating internship at University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center. This experience opened the door into an ophthalmology residency at New Bolton Center. She became a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2019.

Dr. Barton is a 1985 graduate from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois. She completed a one year Large Animal Medicine and Surgery Internship at North Carolina State University, followed by a four year combined Large Animal Internal Medicine Residency and PhD in Physiology at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia. Dr. Barton has remained at the University of Georgia and is the Fuller E. Callaway Endowed Chair, Professor of Large Animal Internal Medicine and a Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor. She is currently the Director of Clinical Academic Affairs at the College of Veterinary Medicine at UGA. Dr. Barton has served the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine as the Specialty President for Large Animal Internal Medicine and as their Ombudsman.

Dr. Manfredi graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College (Prince Edward Island, Canada), and spent time in a private mixed large animal private practice and at two Chicago race tracks before completing a large animal surgical residency at the University of Minnesota. She completed a PhD at Michigan State in Comparative Medicine and Integrative Biology investigating testing and breed differences in Equine Metabolic Syndrome. Now an Assistant Professor, her current research interest focuses on the intersection of endocrine disease and sports medicine and rehabilitation of the performance horse.

Dr. Reuss grew up in southeastern Pennsylvania riding hunters and jumpers. She received her BS in Animal Bioscience from Pennsylvania State University, followed by a VMD from the University of Pennsylvania. After an internship at Equine Medical Center of Ocala, she next completed a residency at Texas A&M University, becoming a Board Certified Large Animal Internal Medicine specialist. Dr. Reuss then practiced general and specialty medicine at McKinlay and Peters Equine Hospital in Spokane, Washington. Pursuing her love of teaching, she joined the faculty at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010, serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Chief of the Large Animal Medicine Service. Dr. Reuss transitioned to industry in 2016, first with Merial who was then acquired by Boehringer Ingelheim. Throughout her career, Dr. Reuss has maintained active roles within AAEP, ACVIM, AVMA, and the Veterinary Leadership Institute. Her professional interests include gastrointestinal disease, neurology, endocrine disease, and infectious diseases of the horse and foal.

Dr. Schneider obtained her DVM degree from The Ohio State University in 2009. She completed an internship at Wisconsin Equine Hospital then returned to Ohio State for an American Board of Veterinary Practitioners residency as part of OSU’s Equine Field Service. In 2013, she obtained her Master’s Degree of Veterinary Science from Ohio State and also became board certified in Equine Practice by the ABVP. Following completion of her residency she stayed on in the Equine Field Service at Ohio State as a clinical instructor for nearly a year. Dr. Schneider returned to private practice in 2014 as an associate at a multi-doctor, equine only ambulatory practice just east of Columbus, Ohio. During the 6 years she spent in private practice she was fortunate to work with fantastic and invaluable veterinary assistants and technicians who made her job as a veterinarian more efficient, safe and fun! Dr. Schneider joined Merck Animal Health as an Equine Professional Services Veterinarian in July of 2020. She is so excited for the opportunity to connect with equine veterinary technicians and assistants at the AAEVT this year!

Jeannie has always had a lifelong passion for all animals, including horses.  At the age of 16, Jeannie started working for a small animal practice and continued throughout high school and college in various roles including Technician & Practice Manager.  She holds a BS in Biology from University of Kentucky and received her MBA from Bellarmine University.  After graduation, Jeannie began her career at Fort Dodge Animal Health and when Fort Dodge was acquired by Pfizer, Jeannie continued her career as an Equine Area Sales Manager.  Between her time with Fort Dodge and Pfizer, she spent a total of 13 years in various leadership positions.  In 2011, Jeannie was offered the opportunity to help grow and build an equine division at Henry Schein Animal Health as the National Director of Equine Sales and remained there the next 7 years.  In April 2018, Jeannie joined the Zoetis team as the Business Unit Head of US Equine and has been working hard to expand the reach of our equine team.  When Jeannie is not traveling for work, she enjoys spending her time supporting her alma mater through Women & Philanthropy as well as attending University of Kentucky football games, concerts, and visiting her nephew at Auburn University!
