The VMX event was a great success and AAEVT was well represented with speakers and a booth in the Trade Show. We had many technicians and assistants stop by that were very happy to see us. Amanda Compton and Lindsey Schoelen from the AAEVT were speakers at this event.  Their lectures were well attended and even some veterinarians were in the audience. Setting boundaries means being honest about what you can and cannot handle right now…and often that is a daunting admission…an admission that we are indeed human, have our limitations and need to be constantly balancing and rebalancing work, life and play. Tech Tip: Need to strain the mare’s milk prior to feeding the foal? No cheese cloth insight?  A few gauze pads rubber banded over the mouth of an empty, rinsed, 1L dump saline bottle will do the trick.  Simply place a funnel snuggly up against the gauze and poor slowly.  When complete, screw the cap back on and keep unused portion in the fridge for the next feeding. AAEP News Bulletin in Spur May 25, 2021, Issue 566 Pentobarbital back orders and potential alternatives The U.S. is currently experiencing a shortage of pentobarbital, the preferred drug for euthanasia of companion animals. While avenues of resolution are being explored, alternative drugs may need to be considered during short-term back orders.
