Nick Carlson

DVM, DACVS
Director of Surgery

Graduating from UC Davis in 2007, Dr. Carlson interned at Steinbeck Country Equine Clinic before heading into private practice. He completed his Board certification in Veterinary Surgery in 2015. His professional interests include orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, with specific interests in advanced equine dentistry and diseases of the skull and upper airways. Dr. Carlson is an equity partner at Steinbeck Peninsula Equine Clinics.

Sarah DeSante

DVM, DABVP

Dr. DeSante, originally from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, graduated from North Carolina State University in 2010 and relocated to California to pursue an internship at Steinbeck Country Equine Clinic. Once finished, she completed an American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) (Equine) residency through the clinic and has since stayed on as an associate. She has a particular interest in diagnostic imaging and has completed numerous courses in musculoskeletal ultrasonography. She also has a passion for reproduction, ophthalmology, and preventative medicine.

Kayla Dykstra

DVM, CVA

Dr. Dykstra was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a minor in Neuro-psychology from the University of Victoria before returning to complete her degree in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Calgary. Her professional interests include equine sports medicine and rehabilitation, acupuncture and equine reproduction — her favorite time of year is foaling season!

Alexandra Eastman

MS, DVM
Chief Operating Officer

Dr. Eastman grew up in Hollywood, CA and spent weekends and summers in the Sierra Foothills on her family cattle ranch. She met her husband Dr. Tim Eastman in veterinary school – UC Davis (1997); they were married in 1998; and today are co-owners of Steinbeck Peninsula Equine Clinics and Steinbeck Country Small Animal Clinic. In addition to seeing patients and running three busy practices, Dr. Eastman serves on the boards of several organizations.

Lindsey Feliz

Senior Pheresing Technician
Plasvacc

Lindsey was born and raised on the Central Coast. She has a strong passion for horses and has been riding horses since she was very young. Lindsey started with the company from 2005-2007 as a pheresing technician. After a leave to begin her family, Lindsey returned to work with Plasvacc in 2013 as a pheresing technician and has since worked her way up to the Senior Technician position. Lindsey also oversees Plasvacc’s donor program and the care of the donor herd.

Shay Magditch

RVT

Shay Magditch has been working in the veterinary field since 2002. She spent time as an equine emergency & critical care nurse at the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Colorado State University while earning a bachelor’s degree in biology and biomedical sciences. Most of her career has been spent at Steinbeck Peninsula Equine Clinics where she continues to love the challenges and rewards of working in the referral hospital setting. She embraces the interplay between her careers: RVT, CertifiedPersonalTrainer and Health & Wellness Coach.

Laramie Winfield

DVM, DACVIM, CVA, CVMMP
Director of Internal Medicine

Board certified in Veterinary Internal Medicine, Dr. Winfield’s professional interests are equine internal medicine, emergency and critical care, neonatology, acupuncture, sports medicine, and ophthalmology. She is certified in Veterinary Acupuncture and is also a Veterinary Medical Manipulation Practitioner, having completed her training at the Integrative Veterinary Medical Institute in Reddick, Florida. Dr. Winfield is an equity partner at Steinbeck Peninsula Equine Clinics.
